Freshers Week...

Freshers week; the infamous first week of uni where you consume way too much alcohol for your liver to handle and you ultimately end up catching either freshers flu...or and STD.

Freshers week is ultimately what the first year university students live for, it's an exciting week to kick off your next few years at university. Not only do first years enjoy the events of the week but so do older years at university. It's a common misconception that only first year students go to freshers week; which isn't actually all that true. Freshers definitely, usually go to the most events as they've got no reason not to, however for the more advanced university students they know that NO GOOD will come from seven consecutive nights out in a row except a severely bad hangover extended for a week long period and a major splash of the student loan....if it's gone in by then.

Freshers week was the most predictable unpredictable mess possible. It was full of singing, laughing, headaches, hangovers and chundering. The first half of freshers week people are still getting to know each other and learning what it's like to be independent. The latter half of freshers week is literally a human representation of a zoo without cages. It is the craziest week throughout first year of uni (apart from refreshers week, which in my personal experience was most definitely messier as I couldn't remember most of the nights out). You've gotta do it though, despite the fact you're broke af now you're a student...it's like a rite of passage.

TOP TIPS FOR FRESHERS WEEK!!
1) Don't spend all of your money just because you've got it, second or third year you might REALLY need your overdraft.
2) Don't sleep with too many guys/girls during the week as it will haunt you for the rest of the year and you don't wanna get a reputation.
3) All the excitement of being independent might be high, but don't sleep with a flatmate or course mate as you will have frequent interactions with them for, at least ,the rest of your year at university.
4)  Know where the clubs you're going to are in advance otherwise you'll spend the bus journey or walk on google maps relying on the '100%' accurate directions for the wrong postcode you've probably typed in.
5) Take selfies/photos of freshers week to look back on as no year of freshers is the same!
6) Make as many acquaintances as possible, you never know you might find the love of your life or friends you interact with for a lifetime.
7) BE SAFE! I'm all for enjoying yourself but things like spiked drinks, assaults and violent drunken behaviour happen EVERYWHERE, so try to keep a sensible head and go out with more than one person so you shouldn't get left alone at any point throughout the night!
8) ENJOY YOURSELF!! You're only a proper fresher once!!!!

  1. Great advice! I managed to have quite a low-key freshers as I don't drink, but I still went out for meals, a food crawl and fairs etc. and met lots of people. You've definitely got this right though if you want to do the drinking/clubbing side of freshers. Totally agree!
